Accommodation Review Advisory Committee
The Kenora Accommodation Review Advisory Committee (ARAC) was established under Board Policy #802 School Viability and Closure to study and make recommendations to the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board on elementary school accommodations for the areas currently served by Evergreen, Keewatin, King George VI, Lakewood, and Valleyview Public Schools. Recommendations could include renovations, new construction, school closure(s), and alternative uses for school buildings.

The ARAC includes representation from the school councils and the community, the City of Kenora, Grand Council Treaty #3, teachers, trustees, school board staff.

The ARAC held public consultation meetings at each of the 5 schools as follows:

Tuesday, November 3, 2009            Lakewood PS
Monday, November 30, 2009           Keewatin PS
Wednesday, December 9, 2009        Evergreen PS
Tuesday, January 19, 2010              King George VI PS   
Tuesday, February 2, 2010              Valleyview PS

FINAL PUBLIC MEETING

A public meeting to present the Committee's draft recommendations will be held as follows:

Wednesday, March 10, 2010     7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.    Lakewood PS Gym, 240 Veteran's Drive, Kenora

Final authority for decisions on pupil accommodation rests with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board. The Committee is expected to make its recommendations to the Board on April 13, 2010. The earliest date on which the Board can consider the ARAC's recommendations is September 14, 2010.
