Unorganized Territory Property Taxpayers
On January 1, 2009 the Province of Ontario transferred the property tax collection function from the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board to the Provincial Land Tax Office.
Tax payments received by Keewatin-Patricia District School Board are being returned to the taxpayer. If your payment was by Electronic Fund Transfer, it will be reversed back into the originating bank account.
Until June 2009 payments of tax arrears are to be paid by cheque or money order payable to “Minister of Finance” and mailed to:
Provincial Land Tax
P.O. Box 58
Thunder Bay, ON P7C 0A5
The tax roll number must be clearly printed on the cheque or the payment will not be credited and returned to the taxpayer requesting the roll number. There will be an NSF Fee of $35 (as per the O. Reg. 754/92 under Section 8.1 of the Financial Administration Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter F.,12) charged for returned cheques.
The City of Thunder Bay will commence tax collection in June 2009 and will send tax notices and payment information to taxpayers.
