First Nation Metis and Inuit Framework
First Nation Metis and Inuit Framework

The Ministry of Education, in 2008 developed the First Nation, Metis and Inuit Framework (FNMI) Policy Framework and Policy which required all school boards to concentrate efforts and resources to further the achievement of aboriginal students.  School boards annually, are encouraged to submit proposals that further the implementation of the FNMI Policy Framework which in turn supports aboriginal student learning.  The KPDSB has successfully since 2008, secured funding from the Ministry of Education that further develops work in the FNMI Framework.  In 2010/2011, KPDSB received $70,000.00 from the FNMI Framework to enhance Native language teacher professional learning, school-community engagement and Aboriginal student transitions.  The KPDSB looks forward to broadening it’s work in support of the FNMI Framework.
