How does the world use energy?

Energy sources in the world can be divided into two categories:

• Energy purchased from commercial sources (such as gas or electricity)
• Energy obtained from traditional fuels (such as wood cut for individual, small-scale use)

Worldwide, 10% of energy comes from traditional fuels. In Canada, it is less than 5% while in some countries it is as high as 80-90%.
