Principal's Message
Staff and students at Red Lake – Madsen Public School enjoy a modern school building. The main body of the school is over 50 years old, however, the school underwent a major renovation that was completed in 1996. There are 14 classrooms, a full gym with a stage, a library resource centre and a well equipped computer lab. Family futures, a joint venture between Child and Family Services and the Patricia Centre for Children and Youth have their own wing in this facility. In addition, the Red Lake Daycare and the Early Years Centre are also located within the building.
Parents have an important role to play in supporting their child’s learning and their involvement is encouraged. We believe that as parents become more involved in their child’s school life, the student’s success increases.
The staff at Red Lake – Madsen Public School is dedicated to providing students with an environment and the experiences to develop to their full potential. Our staff and students strive for excellence in all school programs through a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy and character development.
Red Lake – Madsen Public School is fortunate to have strong community partnerships with organizations such as the Red Lake Indian Friendship Centre, Family Futures and local businesses. Of particular note is the relationship we have with the community to support our Breakfast for Learning Initiative, which runs every morning prior to school. Various community groups and businesses support the Breakfast Club through financial donations, donations of kitchen equipment, cooking, baking and serving the students. Breakfast for Learning is a well supported and well run program that we are pleased to offer our students.
Our students have made us proud of their range of achievements and their participation and enthusiasm. I hope you will enjoy looking over our site. If you would like to visit Red Lake – Madsen Public School, I invite you to contact me at liz.sidor@kpdsb.on.ca or call me at (807)727-2331.
