Community Use of KPDSB Facilities

“Community Use of Schools is an initiative that supports access to school spaces outside of school hours for not-for-profit community groups”

Keewatin-Patricia District School Board and the Ministry of Education will encourage more community use of our facilities and increase affordable community access to school spaces. (Policy 801)

Community Use Permit System

Book a Facility with our permit system by reviewing community event calendar for all schools with an online application process where you can view your permit requests. Facilities are available for booking Monday-Friday, throughout the year on regular instructional days, during the hours of 6 - 10 PM, and on weekends between the hours of 8 AM - 6 PM, unless otherwise agreed upon.

All applications are to be made through the permit system or through the local school office.  Applications must be submitted a minimum of two weeks prior to the requested use of date(s).

Liability insurance is mandatory. Please note that if you have your own insurance, KPDSB must be named as additional insured with 5 million liability insurance preference. If you do not have insurance, you have the option of purchasing OSBIE insurance from KPDSB at a reduced cost.

Facilities Partnerships

It is the policy of the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board to work with its community partners in order to share its facilities to the benefit of the Board, its students and the community, and to optimize the use of the assets owned by the Board. The Board will seek opportunities to share facilities with community partners when building new schools and undertaking significant renovations, and when considering the use of unoccupied space in schools. The Board will attempt to expand the number of partnerships in a way that is transparent, sustainable and supportive of student achievement. (Policy 807)
